We first met Matt when attending some sessions he was leading for the SingUp programme and subsequently invited him over to Poynton to lead a singing afternoon with a large group of ladies from across all our choirs. Following this event, Matt invited the Cantata Collective to take part in the Olympic torch events of 2012 and as a result over 100 of our singers were lucky enough to perform in the Roman Amphitheatre in Chester and at Tatton Park in Knutsford, singing his big anthem, ‘Across the World’.

Matt is a truly inspirational singing leader and his ethos for singing and music is very much in keeping with our own philosophies: music is for enjoyment and participation, regardless of age or experience. He is multi-talented: composer, arranger and performer as well as director of Chester’s well-known top ladies choir ‘A Handbag of Harmonies’ (featured on BBC 1’s Last Choir Standing) and Theatre in the Quarter. Amongst his many composing talents was the music for the stunning performances of the Chester Mystery Plays recently staged in Chester Cathedral.

Matt works with people of all ages across the UK and the world, so he is much in demand. He has delivered two singing events for members of our choirs in Poynton and on both occasions, the venue has been packed. Within a three-hour session Matt works his magic and has singers, even those new to singing, performing in harmony and moving at the same time!
